UK Reports Maritime Incident Near Oman Involving Commercial Vessel
The UK Maritime Trade Operations said it received information about an incident involving a container ship located roughly 15 nautical miles northeast of Oman.
According to the vessel’s master, the ship was approached by a gunboat reportedly linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The report stated that no warning was issued over radio communications before the gunboat opened fire.
The attack allegedly caused significant damage to the ship’s bridge, as stated in the report.
However, it was confirmed that no fires broke out and there was no environmental damage.
All crew members were reported to be safe following the incident.
