Moldova Prepares to Join Coalition Supporting Peace Efforts in Ukraine

(MENAFN) Moldova’s president stated on Monday that the country could join the “coalition of the willing” within weeks, aiming to help secure lasting peace and potentially support a multinational force in Ukraine, according to reports.

Speaking to journalists after a National Security Council meeting, Maia Sandu highlighted Moldova’s expertise in demining and said the country can provide support to Ukraine through training and specialized interventions.

"I want to remind you that the Republic of Moldova is already providing support to Ukraine in the form of demining training. And this is what we can do and what we have offered in case there is this final agreement of the members of the coalition of the willing for the Republic of Moldova to join," she said.

In March 2025, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed plans to form a “coalition of the willing” to deploy troops and enforce a possible peace agreement in Ukraine, with the UK and France taking leading roles.

The initiative reportedly involves 35 countries, including multiple European nations and Japan.
