Israeli Planes Drop Leaflets Over Beirut Urging Hezbollah Disarmament
The leaflets were distributed across neighborhoods including Verdun, Hamra, and Ain el-Mreisseh. They described Hezbollah as “Iran’s arm” and carried the message: “Lebanon is your decision, not someone else’s.”
Hezbollah began targeting Israeli military sites on March 2 in retaliation for ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon, which have persisted since November 2024 and included the killing of Iran’s then-supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in Tehran. On the same day, Israel escalated its campaign with airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs as well as other southern and eastern regions of Lebanon.
On March 3, Israel launched a limited ground incursion into southern Lebanon following the start of the joint US-Israel military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28. Lebanese authorities reported Thursday that the expanded Israeli offensive has resulted in 687 deaths, 1,774 injuries, and roughly 822,000 displaced residents.
