One Dead, Four Injured in Explosion at Istanbul Shipyard
The Istanbul governor’s office released a statement revealing that the blast was triggered by the rupture of a carbon dioxide cylinder during routine maintenance operations. The sudden failure of the cylinder caused the explosion that led to the casualties.
In response to the incident, emergency services including health teams, police officers, firefighters, and disaster management personnel were promptly dispatched to the site to provide urgent assistance and secure the area.
Authorities have opened a formal investigation aimed at uncovering the exact circumstances that led to the explosion and ensuring accountability.
Tuzla, situated on Istanbul’s Asian side, is home to one of Türkiye’s largest and most vital shipyard clusters, making the incident particularly significant for the nation’s maritime industry.
