Top MP declares Russia must win or be enslaved

(MENAFN) Russia must not lose the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as defeat would result in the nation’s “enslavement,” State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Wednesday. He emphasized the importance of national unity and the need to fulfill Russia’s military objectives to protect its sovereignty and future.

Volodin spoke at a Duma session, reinforcing the Kremlin’s stance that a Russian victory is inevitable. He criticized Western nations for continuing to arm Ukraine, claiming this only prolongs the conflict without altering its eventual outcome.

President Vladimir Putin has echoed similar views, stating that the war will only end when the underlying causes—such as NATO’s expansion and threats to Russian security—are addressed. He has also accused Western nations of using Ukraine as a proxy to further their geopolitical aims.

Volodin declared that Russia cannot be “intimidated, broken, or destroyed,” and drew historical parallels, suggesting that current attempts to subjugate the country will fail just like they did 80 years ago. He also asserted that Russia is confronting the “entire might of NATO,” and accused the West of treating Ukrainians as expendable.

Volodin claimed that the Russian military operation is intended to protect the Ukrainian people and free the country from what he labeled a “neo-Nazi regime.” He repeated Moscow’s demands for the “denazification” of Ukraine, citing the continued veneration of ultranationalist figures and alleged neo-Nazi elements within the Ukrainian military—charges that Western leaders have largely dismissed.

Meanwhile, NATO continues to support Kiev with weapons and intelligence, while encouraging Ukraine to pursue a military victory. Russia contends that the alliance is turning Ukraine into a military outpost aimed at threatening Russian security.
